Volkman seed is the only one that I give my cockatiels and have been using for almost 20 years. I get it without sunflower because my boys don't eat sunflowers and parrot stays out of their food due to lack of sunflower seeds. I’ve never been able to fully convert my cockatiel to pelletized food. Volkman was recommended to me by the specialty parrot store where I shopped for years for my birds. If you must feed your bird seed, Volkman is a very high quality food and I definitely recommend purchasing non-sunflower mixes. Sunflower seeds are high fat, low nutrient seeds that should not be in their diet.

I was so happy to find this seed mix on line, which I add to pellets for my birds. I have always been told that since my cockatiels are both over 20, that avoiding too many of the fatty sunflower seeds was best for them. The pet stores where I live only seem to carry the mix with sunflowers, so this was perfect. It was shipped wrapped tightly in heavy, outer plastic, and arrived promptly. No more having to sift out the sunflower seeds! And it was cost comparative, even with the shipping. A win/win.

I didn't know much about bird food when my son brought me two cockatiels. After they were seen by the vet, I was told that they shouldn't have any sunflower seeds. The vet compared it to eating at McDonalds everyday. Not a healthy diet. I immediately switched to the Volkman Avian Science Super Cockatiel Food and the birds are very healthy and I feel that I'm doing the best for them adding only fresh vegetables and fruit to their diets.

This is the preferred seed mix of our birds and it is no longer available where we used to purchase it. Anyone who knows birds realizes that you usually can't switch from a food they like and are used to, at the drop of a hat. Thank you for carrying this brand and mix...and for the great price.

Very good food blend for Cockatiels, with no sunflower seeds. I mix this with Roudybush mini pellets. The birds love it, and they remain healthy. I also learned a healthy secret for birds is to mix their water with Bragg's apple cider vinegar. 1/3 cup to 1 gallon of water.

The conure goes after the little black seeds first - even raids them out of the dish in the cockatiel's cage. Wish there were more of those in the blend. I like that it has no sunflower seeds. Price is also good.

This was one of 2 brands of cocktail seed recommended by the bird store we bought our cocktail at. Petguys.com had the best deal at the time we searched online for this brand.

Volkman is the only food I give my birds. My Vet even told me they are the best. You just have to look at the ingredients. My birds are very healthy, I would never change their food.

Adopted two male cockatiels. The food they had, there was a lot being wasted. I switched to this. I get this brand for my parakeets too. They like this food and they look better. I also get them Pretty Bird bird food which is also sold from the Pet Guys. They have great prices and fast delivery.

As with most all of Volkman's Products, there is a lot of variety in their mixes - it is really a complete and healthy diet. As breeders of companion birds, we depend on HIGH quality feeds. Currently we are mixing several Volkman's products together to create a bulk weight that is simple to feed across several species without need to change containers for each species - now we do one for smaller birds and one for our medium birds. People always comment as to how big for their species, healthy and plump our babies and breeders are.
